The "Big C"
Brianna's journey began with seemingly minor symptoms that gradually escalated, prompting her to seek medical attention. After numerous tests and consultations, she received the devastating news that she had angiosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer originating in the cells lining her blood vessels. As she bravely navigated through her treatment, Brianna faced another hurdle when she was also diagnosed with epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE), a rare vascular tumor that further complicated her condition. Despite the overwhelming challenges, Brianna faced her diagnoses with remarkable strength and courage, inspiring everyone around her with her unwavering determination and positivity.

Brianna's bravery was evident from the moment she received her diagnoses. Faced with the overwhelming news of having not one but two rare and aggressive cancers, she confronted her situation with a resilience that left everyone in awe. Throughout countless treatments, surgeries, and hospital visits, Brianna maintained a positive outlook and an indomitable spirit. She refused to let her illnesses define her, continuing to pursue her passions and support those around her despite her own battles. Brianna’s courage was not just in facing her diseases head-on, but in how she lived each day with gratitude and joy, finding strength in her loved ones and inspiring them in return. Her ability to smile through the pain, to offer words of encouragement to fellow patients, and to remain hopeful in the face of uncertainty, truly exemplified her extraordinary bravery. Brianna’s legacy of courage continues to inspire all who knew her, reminding us of the power of resilience and the strength of the human spirit. Brianna's memory lives on through the countless lives she touched. Her friends and family remember her for her unwavering support, her incredible strength, and her boundless kindness.

About Angiosarcoma & Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma

Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma (EHE) and Angiosarcoma are both rare and aggressive vascular tumors, each presenting unique challenges in diagnosis and treatment. EHE originates from the endothelial cells lining the blood vessels and can occur in various parts of the body, most commonly the liver, lungs, and bones. Its behavior is unpredictable, ranging from slow-growing lesions to highly aggressive tumors, making treatment complex and often involving surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy. Angiosarcoma, on the other hand, is a more aggressive cancer that also arises from the endothelial cells of blood or lymph vessels, but it typically presents more rapidly and aggressively. Common sites include the skin, breast, liver, and deep tissues. Symptoms for both cancers depend on their location and can include pain, swelling, and functional impairments of the affected organ. The rarity of these cancers means there is no one-size-fits-all treatment, and both require specialized, often multi-modal approaches. Research into targeted therapies and innovative treatments continues to provide hope for better management and outcomes for patients with these challenging diagnoses.

Additionally, the management of both Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma (EHE) and Angiosarcoma involves multidisciplinary care teams, including oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and pathologists, to tailor treatment plans to each patient's specific needs. Genetic and molecular research is playing an increasingly important role in understanding these cancers, with the aim of identifying potential biomarkers for early detection and novel therapeutic targets. Clinical trials offer patients access to cutting-edge treatments and contribute to the growing body of knowledge about these rare tumors.

Supportive care is also crucial, addressing the physical, emotional, and psychological challenges faced by patients and their families. Organizations dedicated to rare cancers, such as the Angiosarcoma Awareness, Inc. and the EHE Foundation, provide resources, advocacy, and support networks, helping patients navigate their journey and connect with others facing similar challenges. Fundraising and awareness efforts are essential in driving research forward and improving the outlook for future patients. While EHE and Angiosarcoma are complex and rare, advances in medical research, a personalized approach to treatment, and strong support systems are vital in improving outcomes and providing hope for those affected by these formidable cancers.

Our Friendship
I met Brianna during my sophomore year; her freshman year at NSU in September 2017, a time that feels like it was just yesterday. We first crossed paths while hanging out with a large group of people at Steak n’ Shake. Brianna's love for cars was well-known, and when I arrived in my customized Jeep, we immediately connected. From that moment, we became inseparable, to the point where my futon became her new bed.

In late October, I adopted my service dog, Ollie. Brianna met him before I did, and their bond was unbreakable. She played a significant role in helping me raise him, treating him as if he were her own. While we lived on campus, it was rare to see us apart. Brianna even joined me in my art classes, highlighting how much time we spent together.

Throughout our years of friendship, we shared countless adventures. We participated in Jeep Week in Daytona, where we enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow Jeep enthusiasts and the thrill of off-roading. We took trips to New Jersey, where we explored new places and made unforgettable memories. Our night drives to the beach were filled with deep conversations, listening to music and the soothing sound of the waves. We made frequent pit stops at Wawa, indulging in our favorite snacks and drinks. Tijuana Flats every Tuesday became a tradition, where we enjoyed good food and great company.

One of my favorite memories with Brianna was a family trip to Disney World. We all wore matching t-shirts, including Brianna, who was an integral part of our family from the start. She was the brightest and most genuine person I had ever met. She made me laugh until my stomach hurt and was always there to help me navigate any situation. Brianna would listen to my rants, cheer me up when I was down, and ensure that I always had a friend by my side.

Brianna's presence was a constant source of joy and support in my life. Her infectious laughter and positive energy brightened even the darkest days. She had an incredible ability to make everyone around her feel special and loved. Her genuine kindness and unwavering loyalty were unmatched. Brianna's impact on my life extends far beyond the memories we created together. She taught me the importance of living in the moment, embracing spontaneity, and cherishing the people who matter most. Her strength and resilience in the face of challenges inspired me to be a better person.

Although Brianna is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the countless memories we shared and the lessons she imparted. I am forever grateful for the time we had together and the profound impact she had on my life. Brianna will always hold a special place in my heart, and her legacy of love, laughter, and friendship will continue to inspire me every day.
